Monitor vs. TV for Gaming

If you are getting a gaming setup together, whether it is through a computer or a console, you will be wondering whether you should go with a monitor or a television as your display. We can understand why you may be having this debate, because there are pros and cons with either side. We can tell you about them right now. The great thing about using a television is that you are getting a massive screen, in most cases, at a comparable price point. For instance, the amount you spend on a 40 inch TV would get you a very good 25 or 27 inch monitor.

But what you have to understand is that when you are using a television for gaming, you are going to have to deal with some input delay. And if you are the type of person who plays games at a competitive level, you will not be happy about such a delay. You will feel as though you are making a mistake if you are going down that route. Yes, it is only a few milliseconds, but you would be surprised at what an impact it can have when you are in this position. So you are going to want to make a decision about what matters more.

We think that if you are not a competitive gamer, and you do not care too much about the milliseconds of delay that you may get in some games, then you should get a TV. Not only will it be better when you are watching movies or shows, but you will also be able to enjoy your games on a massive screen. And if you are ever playing with friends or family, then having the TV helps a lot. Two people playing and trying to look at a 25 inch monitor at a good angle is not so easy!
